That timepiece is the only hope Katherine and Ellie have of reverting back to their former selves.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-142766 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theblurb.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/rsz_freaky-friday-4287.jpg?resize=560%2C374&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theblurb.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/rsz_freaky-friday-4287.jpg?w=560&amp;ssl=1 560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theblurb.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/rsz_freaky-friday-4287.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theblurb.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/rsz_freaky-friday-4287.jpg?resize=272%2C182&amp;ssl=1 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on a novel by Mary Rodgers and Disney films of 1976, 1995 and 2003, Freaky Friday is a delightful family musical.\u00a0The book is by Bridget Carpenter, with music by Tom Kitt and lyrics from Brian Yorkey.\u00a0It is clever, funny, joyous and uplifting.\u00a0Theatrical\u2019s two leads, Lyla Digrazia and Stephanie Powell, are sensational \u2013 their\u00a0powerful and dynamic vocals electrifying.\u00a0I equate Digrazia\u2019s singing to liquid gold. She is so fluid and ear pleasing.\u00a0Powell, too, excites with her tone and delivery. Her facial expressions are priceless.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thomas Martin really comes into his own with significant heavy lifting in the second act, where his purity of sound shines.\u00a0Michael Gray is another winner, playing three roles, including Katherine\u2019s good-natured fianc\u00e9, Mike.\u00a0The 17-strong cast is glorious in harmony, making the most of the music and lyrics.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-142761 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theblurb.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/rsz_freaky-friday-4569.jpg?resize=560%2C374&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theblurb.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/rsz_freaky-friday-4569.jpg?w=560&amp;ssl=1 560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theblurb.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/rsz_freaky-friday-4569.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theblurb.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/rsz_freaky-friday-4569.jpg?resize=272%2C182&amp;ssl=1 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The orchestra, led by musical director Peter Pham Nguyen, are to be commended, while Bridie Clark\u2019s choreography works beautifully.\u00a0The musical is set against a cartoon-like set, with Jason Bovaird\u2019s lighting particularly effective.\u00a0It is safe to say that a good time is had by all, while watching and listening to an inspiring production of Freaky Friday.
