Press Club – new album and tour

Melbourne group Press Club have just released their second full-length album, Wasted Energy.

Press Club’s sonic calling cards are all present on Wasted Energy; the fuzz-addled, kicked-in speaker bass of Iain MacRae, the sharp guitar tones of Greg Rietwyk, the merciless drumming of Frank Lees, with the emotionally charged vocal delivery of Natalie Foster.

Two singles have been taken from the self-produced Wasted Energy so far. ‘Get Better’, and ‘Thinking About You’, in which Foster recounts her experience with a stalker.

Wasted Energy examines the negative behaviours in the world around us and how we’re all learning to exist in today’s ever-evolving socio-moral landscape. Wasted Energy is broadly about change, and life’s watershed moments that change its course. These shifts are laterally represented lyrically and sonically in many of its songs. Sweeping about-faces and musical departures are an expansion of the musical fibre that make up the Press Club repertoire.

The album’s release is coupled with a massive Australian tour slated for later this year which will see the band play shows around the country. Enigmatic Sydney quintet Johnny Hunter on most dates. Before that though, band will be swinging through Europe in August and September.
